• VAGINAL HYSTERECTOMY

Surgical procedure to remove the uterus through the vagina. During a vaginal hysterectomy, the surgeon detaches the uterus from the ovaries, fallopian tubes and upper vagina, as well as from the blood vessels and connective tissue that support it. The uterus is then removed through the vagina. A hysterectomy may be advised for a number of conditions like excessive and irregular uterine bleeding, called menorrhagia, can lead to anemia (low blood iron count) and fatigue.

• MYOMECTOMY

Surgical procedure to remove uterine fibroids, these are common noncancerous growths that appear in the uterus, usually during childbearing years, but they can occur at any age. Fibroids often cause pain and excessive menstrual bleeding. They can also interfere with your ability to become pregnant. They may degenerate or become infected, and therefore your doctor may feel they should be surgically removed. Myomectomy is the preferred fibroid treatment for women who want to become pregnant. After myomectomy, your chances of pregnancy may be improved.

Surgical procedure that removes your uterus through an incision in your lower abdomen. Your uterus — or womb — is where a baby grows if you're pregnant. A partial hysterectomy removes just the uterus, and a total hysterectomy removes the uterus and the cervix. Abdominal hysterectomy may be recommended over other types of hysterectomy if you have a large uterus or if your doctor wants to check other pelvic organs for signs of disease.

Factors such as childbirth and ageing in particular can fundamentally and adversely change the way your vagina looks and feels. Problems can include: lack of confidence due to cosmetic look of vaginal area, soss of sensation/satisfaction during intercourse, stress incontinence (leaking urine when you sneeze) or urge incontinence (having to rush to the loo at short notice), vaginal Prolapse (bulge or heaviness in vagina or lower abdomen). The good news is that surgery can improve the way your vagina looks, feels and functions – a real relief from the worry that these conditions can cause.
